Soms sla je je als frequent blogger over het recruitment domein jezelf voor je kop. Vandaag is zo’n dag. Met de aankondiging van Carv dat zij Recrubo overnemen. Hoewel ik al eerder over Recrubo heb geschreven, is Carv nog nooit aan bod gekomen. Terwijl Carv een wel zeer bekende oprichter heeft: Barend Raaff. Jawel, van Harver faam. Afgezien van wat vriendelijk heen en weer gechat met Raaff is er verder niets van gekomen. En ziedaar: plotseling is daar een overname van een AI-start-up door een AI-start-up. Met twee keer een Nederlands sausje. Hoe vaak komt dat nou voor?

Anywho, laten we het persbericht van Carv eens nader onder de loep nemen:

The acquisition and the subsequent launch of Carv’s comprehensive AI recruitment platform marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of AI in talent acquisition. In its new configuration, Carv enables recruiters to delegate all tasks to AI that distract them from building human connections.

Carv is een stuk verstandiger dan start-ups zoals Mercor die het eigen nest te bevuilen (don’t shit where you eat), en stelt dat recruiters worden bevrijd van administratieve rompslomp. En wie wil dat nou niet? Helaas heeft Carv wel andere mindere kwaliteiten van de Amerikaanse start-up wereld overgenomen, zoals gereteutel over het zijn van een leader in één of ander segment(je). En dan is er de volzin over een pivotal moment in the evolution of AI TA… Geen idee waar Carv het over heeft.

Laten we verder lezen:

One of the dominant players, the world’s future top AI platform, takes a big leap! Het is mode om persberichten druipend van hypebool te schrijven, anders worden ze niet opgepikt door het aartsluie journaille. Het betekent alleen dat je om al die hyperbool heen moet proberen te lezen om de essentie te begrijpen, en dat wordt steeds moeilijker.

Maar ik ga door:

Recruitment is a continuous cycle of screening and evaluating candidates. This process is riddled with tasks that keep recruiters from doing what they do best; connecting with humans. ” Says Carv co-founder Matthijs Metzemaekers. “With the addition of Recrubo’s conversational AI to our platform, we open up an entirely new paradigm of recruiter-AI collaboration. You can now assign admin tasks to AI and let it take over 90% of the communication with your incoming applicants or your existing talent pool.”

Dit is een cryptische alinea. Want van connection with humans naar het overlaten van 90% van de communicatie met humans aan AI staat in mijn optiek op sterk gespannen voet met elkaar. Of lees ik nou iets verkeerd?

En verder:

The recruitment technology market is rapidly evolving with AI point solutions popping up left and right. AI performance often suffers from the disconnectivity of these tools”. Says Carv co-founder Barend Raaff. “With Carv we now offer one suite of solutions integrated into your current workflow to make AI really work for recruiters.”

Geen gespannen voeten in deze alinea, wel een wat verwarrende zinsnede. Want bedoelt Raaff nu dat Carv al vóór of pas na de overname van Recrubo een suite van oplossingen heeft?

Er is ook nog een quote van Niels Tukker, oprichter van Recrubo:
